About Us
The Jerrahi Sufi Order of Canada is a branch of the Halveti-Jerrahi Order of Dervishes, which is a traditional Sufi Order. Today, the Order exists in almost every continent around the world.
Truly representing the universality of Divine love and remembrance, the Halveti-Jerrahi Order of Dervishes remains a worldwide, cultural, educational and social relief organization that promotes the advancement of spiritual and religious knowledge, social justice and the sacred arts. Here in Canada, the Order is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to providing humanitarian and social services to marginalized and vulnerable communities locally, nationally as well as internationally.
Currently, the Jerrahi Sufi Order of Canada holds weekly gatherings where attendees come to gain knowledge about Islam through participating in discourses and discussions, observing the art of Sufi music and poetry, and celebrating the praises of God through prayer and Zikrullah (Sufi remembrance ceremony).
We currently gather every Saturday night at 7pm in the Canadian Sufi Cultural Centre at 270 Birmingham Street in Etobicoke, Ontario, a 25 year long project that is finally coming to fruition thanks to the help and generosity of many loved ones.

Principles of Sufism
1) There are as many ways to reach God as there are individuals. And all paths to God involve outer service and inner transformation.
2) Sufi practice is aimed at bringing about the cleansing and awakening of the heart. Truth cannot be understood by the head alone; it requires the intelligence of an awakened heart.
3) The heart is a divine temple, the house of the divine spark which is within each of us. When we truly understand this truth, we will treat everyone with compassion and kindness, and dedicate ourselves to serving God through serving others.
4) A teacher is essential on this path. True inner transformation requires a guide. A Sufi teacher is like a physician, who has the training, knowledge, and remedies to treat our inner illnesses. Those with no medical knowledge who try to treat themselves have a fool for a physician.
5) Love is one of the great qualities developed in Sufi practice. The capacity to love comes from inner work and expresses itself in sincere service. All love is founded on divine love, and love of the beauty of this world is meant to lead to deeper love of God.
